Our Story
Creative Director, Sophie Porter, founded Meredith House with her sister, Celia Haynes, building on a distinguished twenty-year career as Managing Director of Jean Monro. Sophie and Celia inherited their love of design from their father, Charles Meredith Hamer - a renowned figure in the world of interiors, who instilled in them a passion for creativity and craftsmanship.
Rooted in the romance of childhood summers, much of their design inspiration comes from watching their French mother transform their grandmother’s Burgundy home—and later their country house in Normandy—with hand-upholstered walls and nostalgic prints. When it came to decorating their own homes, they simply couldn't afford the designer price tags. Determined to make beautiful interiors accessible, they launched their own line of prints - eliminating industry markups and passing the savings directly to clients. They wanted to make considered designs more attainable so that those who can't afford interior designers can still afford interior design.
